Overview

Fireside Learning ("Fireside," "we," "us," or "our") is an educational app designed for children ages 8-12. We take children's privacy extremely seriously. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it.

Fireside is designed to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and applicable privacy laws.

Information We Collect

Parent Account Information

• Email address (for account creation and login)
• Display name
• Subscription and payment status (managed by Apple/Google, we do not store payment details)

Child Profile Information

• First name (provided by parent)
• Age group (e.g., 8-10, 10-12)
• Learning progress (lessons completed, XP earned, streaks)
• Topic preferences selected during onboarding

Information We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect a child's last name, address, phone number, or precise location
• We do not collect photos, videos, or audio from children
• We do not use cookies or tracking technologies for advertising
• We do not serve ads of any kind
• We do not allow children to make purchases, post public content, or communicate with other users

How We Use Information

• To provide and personalize the learning experience
• To track lesson progress, streaks, and achievements
• To manage parent accounts and subscriptions
• To improve our content and app experience

We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

Third-Party Services

We use the following services to operate Fireside:

• Supabase — secure database and authentication (data stored in the US)
• RevenueCat — subscription management (processes no child data)
• Apple App Store / Google Play — payment processing (we never see or store payment details)

These services are used solely to operate the app and are bound by their own privacy policies and data protection obligations.

Parental Consent & Controls

A parent or guardian must create an account and set up a child's profile. Parents control all account settings and can:

• View their child's learning progress
• Update or delete their child's profile
• Request deletion of all account data
• Access the app settings via a parent PIN

Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect personal information, including encrypted connections (TLS/SSL), secure authentication, and access controls. Child data is stored separately from parent account data and is only accessible through the authenticated parent account.

Data Retention & Deletion

We retain account data for as long as the account is active. Parents may request deletion of their account and all associated data at any time by contacting us. Upon deletion request, all personal data — including child profiles and learning progress — will be permanently removed within 30 days.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify parents of material changes via the email address on file. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
